Unique Baby Names

meaning of names

The topic of this article is choosing unique, rare and uncommon baby names.

Not everyone fully relates to the importance a baby name will play in his or her future. Sometimes parents want to give their baby a beautiful original and uncommon name. And not only for your boy to be set apart from ten other Johns born into the families of friends and relatives but also to give your child a unique name in itself.

An undoubted advantage of choosing an unique name is that a child will have little to no chance of meeting someone with the same name within his or her social circle. That means your child won't be differentiated by surname or by being given a nickname inspired by some other unique trait. What that unique trait will be though, positive or negative, from outer looks or inner character, depends on the child's upbringing and on how you teach your child to hold him or herself in life. Obviously, naming a child with a unique name will allow him or her to be better remembered among other more common names. But if choosing a unique name is a definitive decision, then there's room for thinking about other things as well.

Does this new name have a shortened version that the child could likely be called by his or her classmates and friends? After all, children aren't likely to actively resort to using a name that's tough to pronounce.

How will this name go along with the child's surname? For a certainty, uncanny combinations that might come out of your experimentations with names are more likely to cause an unfair and joking attitude towards the child rather than surprise and respect. Don't forget that the name you choose for your child will be often used by its bearer during introductions.

If you overdo it with choosing just the right name, a growing child may very well grow insecure about it in the future and is likely to simply be shy of saying his or her own name.
